World Hand Hygiene Day

Today is May 5th, meaning it also World Hand Hygiene Day. Now more than ever the importance of washing your hands couldn’t be more important. Recent events have shown how fast viruses and illness can spread, and why we need to maintain good hand hygiene in order to prevent spread.

The World Health Organisation launched this initiative in 2009 with the key message “SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands” and we cannot echo this message loud enough.

According to the CDC researchers estimate that if everyone routinely washed their hands, 1 million deaths a year could be prevented.

We have created a graphic displaying the most effective way to wash your hands:

By following these steps you will be preventing the spread of germs and bacteria, helping not just yourself but others around you.

It is especially important to make sure that if you or a carer are applying incontinence products that your maintain good hand hygiene. This will help minimize the risk of contamination and infection.

Remember, save lives, clean your hands!
